CiteCheck audits the web page you are currently viewing for search engine and AI search readiness. When you click the CiteCheck icon, the extension reads the page in your browser, runs its checks on your device and shows you the results. That is the entire product.

None. In detail:

We have no servers behind this extension. There is nothing for us to receive, so there is nothing for us to lose, sell or share.

To audit a page, CiteCheck requests a small set of files from the same website you are analysing:

• robots.txt, to read crawler access rules
• llms.txt, to report whether the file exists
• the page URL itself, to compare the raw HTML with the rendered page and read response headers
• the site homepage, to compare structured data for consistency
• the sitemap URL declared in robots.txt, to confirm it is reachable

Every request goes to the site being analysed and nowhere else. The extension never contacts our servers, ad networks, analytics services or any other third party. The check definitions and the list of known AI crawlers ship inside the extension package and are updated only through normal extension updates. No code or configuration is loaded remotely.

Settings you enter (an agency name, website and accent colour for reports, plus your preferred layout) are stored by your browser using its extension storage. If your browser account syncs extension data, your browser vendor handles that sync under its own privacy policy. We cannot read these settings.

CiteCheck integrates with no third party services. Two things sit outside the extension itself:

• Check results link to public documentation (for example Google Search Central, schema.org, published research). Clicking those links opens the external site in a normal tab under that site's own policies.
• The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Install statistics shown to us by those stores are aggregate numbers produced by the store, not data collected by CiteCheck.

CiteCheck is a professional tool and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Because CiteCheck collects and processes no personal data, no personal data processing takes place under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, the EU General Data Protection Regulation or similar laws. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first and the change will be listed in the extension's release notes.

CiteCheck complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. The extension uses no remote code.

Any change will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes (for example, if a future version ever introduced optional telemetry) would also be announced in the extension's store listing and changelog before release.
