Get your brand named in AI answers, not just ranked
GEO in Malaysia
When someone asks ChatGPT for the best event management company in KL, or asks Perplexity to recommend a freight forwarder in Penang, they get a name back. Not a results page. One name, sometimes three. Generative engine optimisation is the work that decides whether one of those names is yours.
Mackyclyde SEO has delivered GEO as a dedicated service since 2025, among the first Malaysian agencies to do so. We build the entity signals, structured data and third-party corroboration that AI systems check before they put a brand into an answer.

Founder-led strategy
What is Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)?
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) is the practice of influencing whether and how AI systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention, describe and recommend a brand in their answers. It builds on SEO rather than replacing it: where SEO targets a ranking position, GEO targets the answer itself.
The mechanism behind it is simpler than most explanations make it sound. An AI system deciding whether to recommend your business is running a consensus check across every document it can see about you: your website, your Google Business Profile, review platforms, directories, press coverage, forum threads. If those documents agree on who you are, what you do and why you can be trusted, you become a safe answer. If they contradict each other, you get skipped. Most Malaysian businesses fail that check without knowing it exists.
Why this matters in Malaysia right now
AI Overviews now sit above the organic results for a growing share of Malaysian commercial queries, and Perplexity, ChatGPT and Gemini answer buying questions with named recommendations.
The behaviour shift here is sharper than in most markets. Malaysian search runs mobile-first across English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin, and buyers already phrase queries the way they talk on WhatsApp: "help me find a reliable payroll provider for a 20-staff company in JB" rather than three keywords and a scroll. Those long, conversational questions are exactly the ones AI engines answer directly. Our view, having watched this across client accounts since 2025: most Malaysian service businesses are still optimising for a results page their buyers see less of every month.
Ranking still matters. It is simply no longer the whole job.
What our GEO service includes
Entity consensus audit. Before optimising anything, we audit every document the web holds about your brand against a 14-point consistency check: name variants, addresses, founding facts, people, service claims, scale statistics, pricing mentions, stale directory descriptions. Contradictions get fixed first, because amplifying an inconsistent entity spreads the inconsistency. This audit is the same process we run on our own brand.
Structured data and machine readability. Organization, Person, Service and FAQ schema wired to a single entity graph, plus llms.txt, clean crawl access for AI bots, and content structured so systems can extract answers without mangling them.
Citable content. Definition blocks, statistics with dates, named methodologies and question-first sections built to be quoted. AI engines lift specifics; adjectives get stripped in the summary.
Document network building. The part most agencies skip. We place consistent claims about your brand across the sources AI engines actually cite for your category: review platforms, industry directories, media coverage, comparison round-ups. One page saying the right things is a claim. Thirty documents agreeing is a consensus.
Prompt tracking and reporting. We track how AI engines answer your priority prompts every month: whether you are mentioned, what gets said, which sources the answer cites, and how you compare against named competitors. You see the answer moving, not a proxy metric.
AI SEO in Malaysia: where GEO fits
AI SEO is the umbrella. It covers everything involved in staying visible as search becomes AI-mediated: traditional SEO for rankings, answer engine optimisation (AEO) for featured snippets and AI Overviews inside Google, and GEO for the answers generated by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. These are not competing methods, and buying them separately from three vendors is how budgets get wasted.
Mackyclyde SEO delivers AI SEO as one integrated engagement. The technical foundations that earn Google rankings are the same foundations AI systems read; GEO adds the entity, corroboration and answer-structure layer on top. When we audit a site, entity strength gets evaluated first, then content structure, then technical and off-page factors, because without clear entity signals the rest underperforms in AI search regardless of how well it is executed.
Built for how Malaysians actually search
Malaysia is not a copy-paste market for GEO playbooks written in London or San Francisco. Queries split across English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin with different volumes and different competition in each. City-level intent behaves differently in KL, Penang, JB and Kota Kinabalu. And the BM answer corpus is thin: for many service categories, AI engines have very little credible Bahasa Melayu content to draw on, which means the businesses publishing it now will own those answers for years.
We handle multilingual content structure, hreflang, and the local business signals that feed location-aware AI recommendations, in the languages your customers actually ask in.
Why Mackyclyde SEO for GEO
Founded in 2020 by Nnabuike Precious, Mackyclyde SEO has worked with more than 85 Malaysian brands across 28 industries, including Allianz, Kaspersky, Socar, Tune Hotels, Trevo and Bateriku. TechBehemoths named the agency Best SEO Agency in Malaysia 2025, and Clutch lists it among its recommended SEO companies in Malaysia.
The record in traditional search is the foundation the GEO work stands on: 143% organic traffic growth in six months for car-sharing platform Trevo, 302% growth with top-two national rankings for roadside assistance provider Bateriku. 330% increase in mention and link visibility across AI search results for our client - Events Wizard.
Our GEO services
AI Search Audit
We map where you currently appear, and where you do not, across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. For Malaysian businesses, we also assess local citation patterns and how your brand entity is understood across these systems. Most clients find gaps they did not know existed.
Content & Semantic Optimisation
We rewrite or restructure content to answer the questions your customers are actually asking, with the clarity and depth AI systems require to cite a source with confidence. That means genuine EEAT signals, real answers instead of filler paragraphs, and supporting context that makes your expertise legible to both humans and machines.
Entity Schema & Local Signals
We implement structured data across your key pages, including Organisation, Service, FAQ, and LocalBusiness, and align your Google Business Profile, directory listings, and on-site signals so AI systems get a consistent, verified picture of who you are and what you do. In Malaysia's multilingual environment, this layer matters more than most businesses realise.
Technical SEO Foundations
GEO cannot work on a broken technical base. Crawlability, indexation, page speed, mobile usability, these are still what determine whether AI systems can even access your content. We audit and fix the technical layer first, then build the GEO layer on top of it.
Authority & Link Strategy
AI systems weight credibility by external signals: who mentions you, who links to you, where your brand is cited outside your own website. We build that authority through content-led outreach, digital PR, and partnerships that generate the kind of third-party citations that increase your trust score across AI platforms.
Multilingual Implementation
For businesses targeting Malaysia's English, Bahasa, and Chinese-speaking audiences, we structure multilingual content correctly using hreflang, country-specific pages, and localised entity signals, so each version of your content earns AI visibility in its respective language context.
How an engagement works
We benchmark where your brand appears today across AI engines, run the entity consensus check, and evaluate content structure, schema and crawl access. You get findings and a prioritised plan, whether or not you engage us further.
Contradictions resolved, entity graph and structured data implemented, key pages restructured for extraction.
Profile alignment, review velocity, placements and citations in the sources AI engines pull from for your category.
Monthly prompt tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, reported against named competitors, with the next month's priorities set from what the answers actually show.
This cyclical approach ensures constant improvement and adapts to Google’s AI updates.
Ready to be cited by AI?
Most Malaysian businesses are still optimising for 2022 search. The ones investing in GEO now are building the kind of authority that AI systems default to, and that compounds over time. We will show you exactly where you stand and what it would take to become the recommended source in your category.
Frequently asked questions
SEO earns a position on a results page; GEO earns a place inside the answer. The disciplines share foundations, and GEO does not work without solid SEO underneath it, but GEO adds work SEO never needed: entity consistency across third-party documents, answer-ready content structure, and corroboration in the sources AI systems cite.
GEO is delivered as a layer on top of core SEO rather than a standalone retainer. Engagements are scoped after the AI SEO Readiness Audit, with packages starting from RM2,000 per month.
Retrieval-driven surfaces move first: citation changes in Perplexity and AI Overviews can show within weeks of fixing structure and corroboration, because those systems fetch live sources. Consensus inside the models themselves builds more slowly, over months, which is exactly why starting early compounds. Anyone promising guaranteed AI mentions in 30 days is selling something else.
No, and no honest agency can, because nobody controls what an AI system generates. What we control is everything the system reads before it answers: your entity signals, your structured data, and the third-party documents that corroborate you. We measure the outcome monthly and report it against competitors, so you see exactly what moved.
Rankings and AI answers draw on overlapping but different signals. We regularly see businesses ranking top three that never appear in AI answers for the same query, usually because their entity signals are inconsistent or the sources AI engines cite for that category never mention them. Ranking well makes GEO easier. It does not make it automatic.
Yes, and BM is currently the bigger opportunity. The pool of credible BM content in most service categories is small, so AI engines have few sources to choose from. Brands publishing structured, credible BM content now are securing answers with far less competition than the same fight in English.
Four numbers every month: mention rate across your tracked prompts per engine, what the AI actually says about you and whether it matches your facts, share of voice against named competitors, and the count of third-party documents carrying your claims. Traffic from AI referrals is reported too, but the answer itself is the asset we manage.
