Youtube tests combining Google results with video search on Android
A reddit user spotted Google results showing up in the middle of Youtube video searches! Check out the following screenshot for it!
Youtube users can now click on the Google link to start a search directly on Google. If not, they can continue looking for videos.
However, the comments on the subreddit /Google show that people are less than thrilled about this.
“That’s really annoying. If I want a google search, I’d go to google. They should not treat users like tech illiterate people.”
- CapivaraAnonima
“That would just ruin the YouTube experience. Haven’t they done enough with moving the comments.”
- the_frivolous_lad
“Just do it in Google search which already has the ability to have video results inline and you can switch between video and search results. There is no reason to clunk up YouTube with this overlapping and unnecessary feature.”
- locnessmnstr
Though, some are open to the possibility of its usefulness as you can see from the comments extracted from the thread:
“Personally I wouldn’t like getting Google search results in the YouTube app but I can see it being helpful for some. Making it an optional function would be best imo.”
- DivinoEzikiel
“I might like this. I often to a back to back search like that.”
- Elephant789
We did a little check and these mid search Google results are not showing up for Malaysia and Brunei’s Android Youtube apps. So it may seem that maybe it is only limited to the US’s platform and Android devices for now.
